From our aged soy sauces to fresh wasabi, nothing is overlooked. Our kitchen uses such traditional techniques as agemono, yakimono, nimono, and tsukemono to offer complete, balanced meals alongside omakase progressions tuned to seasonality.

I cannot stop talking about Hiyakawa! I had the best fish here since I’ve moved to Miami. They will give you options of glasses for your sake (if ordered) that they buy from Japan. The fish also comes from Japan and they had fishes I’ve never heard of before. I was very excited to try new flavors and our server explained everything we needed to know from the taste of the fish to how it is prepared. I would come here every week and not get tired of it. Highly recommend!

Hiyakawa went above and beyond what was expected. My husband is a huge sushi lover, and me, not as much; but it was a nice date night for him, so I figured I’d get some gyoza and the wagyu and egg nigiri and be perfectly happy. Well, I was about to be SO impressed. We were sat at the sushi bar, and had the most amazing service from one of the sushi chefs. After we put in our order he overheard my husband thanking me for bringing him and the sushi chef realized I wasn’t much of a raw fish gal… he made it his goal to have me try something new that he thought would help bridge the gap. He absolutely astounded. I LOVED the nigiri he had me try so much and was overall so impressed with the passion and love that goes into the craft there. My husband said it has ruined all other sushi for him, lol. Amazing and so grateful we chose this place in a city full of excellent restaurants.

Intimate omakase experience with truly memorable bites. At the chef’s counter we got a front row seat to the meticulous craftsmanship behind the dishes. A variety of flavors and styles highlighted both local and traditional ingredients. We got the tasting menu, which started out with an appetizer sampling different flavors and textures. The menu started with small bites, then some larger dishes like a beautiful soft tofu, onto carefully prepared sushi bites, and ended with a seasonal Sakura flavored dessert. Throughout the meal, the chefs came over to talk us through the different dishes. It ended up being a truly memorable experience.

We had a fantastic evening at Hiyakawa—warm hospitality, generous portions, and an omakase that reminded us why this place is so special. Chef Royce’s talent really shines in the precision and balance of each course. The shrimp nigiri was the standout for us—cooked to perfection—closely followed by the otoro with caviar, which was a wonderfully generous touch and beautifully balanced. My friend loved the monkfish liver, and I was especially impressed by the baby eel nigiri. Chef Jaimie’s dishes were also memorable—especially the steamed tofu, which was incredibly silky and tasty, with a delicate, well-balanced flavor. The perfectly fried shrimp head was a treat, and the refreshing dessert ended the meal on a light, clean note. Overall, an excellent experience and one we’re still savoring—highly recommended.
